Holiday in Melbourne--Part 1

So we just finished Term 3 of the school year, which means we get a two week holiday. Spring Holiday (we get one holiday/ season) is beautiful, not too hot or cold and everything is in bloom. Stan is still flying to Melbourne each week for work (it has almost been two years now) and coming home on the weekends. During school holidays we usually try to come down to stay with him in the hotels. So far this year EVERYONE in our family has celebrated their birthday in a random hotel in Melbourne!
Thomas on the flight down to Melboure (it's a 45 min flight south--so a breeze with the kids).
Our view from the Westin (Behind Mary is Saint Patrics Cathedral and that yellow building across the street is Flinders Station (both really big tourist icons).
Some more views from our hotel room from the balcony.
Usually in Melbourne, we ride the "City Circle" which is a local tram (like the trollies in San Francisco) around the city. Since we have seen EVERYTHING there is to see in the city, and since we were across the street from Flinders Station we decided to venture out into the outer suburbs (Brighton, Saint Kilda, Williamstown etc...) this time! It was fantastic. The houses are so much bigger and cheaper in Melbourne!
Riding the trains across federation square
Brighton Beach--these little beach houses start at $250,000 and go up to $500,000 each. The houses tend to stay within certain families and to own one is like getting into an elites club!
I couldn't resist a few group shots of the kids!
My two beautiful girls!

Me & Olivia!
A few days later, Mary celebrated her 6 year old birthday. We went out for dinner at a pancake house and had cupcakes back at the hotel!

Towards the end of the week there was the finally AFL footy game. (Kind of like the NFL). Melbourne was in the finals and hosting the match. The whole week there were parades, games, face painting etc... all over the city. Here we are watching the parade from our Balcony.
Here Mary has a blow up finger that she got while doing activities at Federation Square!

So fun that you guys got to be there during the games and didn't even have to book your own hotel! You guys have gotten to do some really cool things! Happy Birthday to Mary!
