We rented some sand toys for the afternoon for $5.00- it was so worth it and they occupied the kids for hours
The girls were finally big enough to boogie board on their own after we helped them remember how to do it.
Mary loves the water!
Mary is showing us her find....poor crab
After a morning at the beach we booked a pearling tour. Broome is famous for farming saltwater pearls (a technique brought down by the Japanese during world war II). Broome just happens to have the perfect climate for pearling, so most of Australias' pearls come from this little piece of paradise!
Thomas and Stan getting ready to go out on the boat to look for oysters!
My very adventurous Olivia
To prevent them from loosing the oysters that have been seeded, they keep them in cages, which have to be cleaned weekly so the oysters can breath clean water and make good pearls!
this is a dirty oyster!
After our water tour we got a helicopter tour of the oyster farm.
This was the kids first time in a helicopter!
Mary & Olivia
... and look, we found a crocodile!
I love Olivia's face in this picture- she is giving the pilot bunny ears! lol
I did walk away with one souvenir... a bracelet with one salt water pearl...THANK YOU STAN!
I LOVE IT; and I especially love this picture with the red dirt road we are driving on as we leave the pearl farm as we go back to Broome to find our camp site...it is so AUSTRALIAN!
It should also be noted that TODAY- August 21st was Stan & my 10 year anniversary, so the bracelet was perfect- Thank You STAN
